Every morning on the Bund along the Huangpu River in Shanghai people come out to run, do their morning exercises and…fly kites. I walked a couple of miles along this waterfront on the Huangpu River and
counted at least a dozen kites in the air. This was around 7am and this is a city that wakes up early. Every person flying a kite was an older gentleman; no children. Is there something about flying a kite in the morning that I’m missing out on?
These aren’t the greatest photos, but it’s one of those things that stands out when you travel to a new place for the first time. Every city and people have their unique ways of doing things. Shanghai is a major modern city, but some traditions just continue to hang on.China Photo Galleries
